Rule 18: Know when to back down.
“Just don’t lose her this time; I’m just going to the store.”
“When are you going to let that go?” The raven haired man stated, a look of slight annoyance crossing his smirking face.
“Give it twenty more years, and then we’ll see.” She stated. “Kanya, I’m going to the store, do you need anything.”
“Ice cream.” The young girl stated peaking up from where she was playing on the floor.
“That’s a want, not a need.” Her mother smiled.
“We all need ice cream, though.” She said.
“I’ll think about it.” She said before going out the door.
“About time.” Izaya stated.
“Don’t lose my child.” She stated , before closing the door and heading to the store.
“Kanya-chan, promise you won’t turn into that.” He said looking over to his daughter.
“Like what Daddy?”
“You’re weird.” She giggled, “Sushi, you think Daddy is weird to huh?” She said to the kitten who purred.
“And she’s already talking to things… I told [Name]-chan~ not to get emotional over made up characters, while she was pregnant with you.” He said more to himself, as he gazed aimlessly at his computer. “Kanya-chan~ I’m bored.”
“But Mommy just left, how are you bored?” She said looking up at him. “I know Daddy you can have a tea party with me and sushi.”
The informant chuckled, “Sorry to say but that’s not my idea of fun.”
“Kanya I said-“
“Well unfortunately I’m not her.”
“Why are you being so mean~” She pouted, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at him.
“Because that’s my job.”
“No your job is boring, and that’s why you’re boring.”
“Throwing a tantrum isn’t going to make things go your way.”
“Mommy says you do it all the time.”
“Well she’s wrong.”
“Go ahead.” He said waving her off.
“I don’t care, hmph.”
“Watch it Kanya-chan.” He stated with a slightly more serious tone.
“No!” She defiantly stated.
“No! I want Mommy!”
“You’re starting to sound like a spoiled brat.”
“One more word and you’re going to-“
“No! No! N-“ She let out a startled cry, and looked at her father shock and betrayal evident on her face. The informant straightened back up, where he stood.
“I told you stop acting like a spoiled brat, you know better. Don’t think because I let you get away with some things, that means you can talk back.”
His statement seemed to bring her back to reality, and tears immediately spilled from the young girl’s eyes. She ran as fast as her small legs would carry her up the stairs, crying loudly.
“I’m ba-“ [Name] started, but stopped after hearing one of the doors slam, Kanya wailing, and Izaya actually standing in the middle of the room, with an expression she rarely saw. “What the hell did you do?”
“I wasn’t even gone for thirty minutes, and I come back and my child is crying.”
“Your child is turning into a spoiled brat.”
“My… brat… Izaya, you have three seconds to tell me what the hell is going on.”
“She was talking back, so I spanked her.”
“You heard me.” He stated, “You need to stop, letting her get away with that attitude.”
“Excuse me, you’re the one who lets her do what she wants. And since when do you, do that?” She said motioning towards him.
“Actually act like a parent. It’s… weird. Why was she talking back anyways, she was playing quietly when I left.”
“She kept trying to get me to play tea party with her.”
“And you didn’t.”
“Of course not.”
“Well what were you doing?”
“Nothing? So… you weren’t doing anything, Kanya wanted you to play with her, you said no, and she threw a tantrum, then you spanked her.”
The young woman sighed, “Go talk to her, now.”
“Why should I.”
“Because she got her stubbornness from you, and it’s your fault she acted that way in the first place. Now go.”
The informant rolled his eyes, and walked upstairs. “Kanya” He stood outside her door, the sound of shuffling was enough to let him know she was hiding in there. He walked in the room, to see a small lump beneath the blankets on her bed. “Come out from under there.”
“No~” the small girl sniffled, causing her father to sigh.
“Look, I only did that because you were being a-“
“Not a brat.” She said poking her head form beneath the blankets, tears stained her small cheeks.
“You’re right, you’re stubborn, like your mom-“
“And me.” He smirked. “Now come out of there.”
She crawled from under the blankets, and rubbed her eyes. “I’m sorry Daddy.” She said looking down.
“Yeah I know,” He said pulling her into his lap. “And I suppose next time, I’ll play-“
“You’ll have a tea party with me?” She said looking up.
“Okay.” She said hugging him her small arms around his neck.
“Alright let’s go get some of that ice cream, I know [Name]-chan went and bought for you.” He said standing, holding onto his daughter.
